Junior Grading Syllabus
Your first Grading
The grading is a test where you earn your next karate grade/belt. The first test takes about one hour and all students are tested at the same time.
There is a practice grading that is called a pre grading which students must attend. It is usually 2 weeks before so that students can become familiar with the location and to practice the techniques required.
The first grade is called 10th kyu which is the first red belt.
The order of the belts is red – blue – yellow – green - brown – black. A dedicated student can attain black belt in about 5- 6 years (dependant upon students age)
The frequency of the grading are every 3 months up to green belt and the 6 or 12 monthly after that.
For the grading you need a correctly fitting karate suit fitted with both badges. A karate licence that costs £17.50 (Adults £27.50) annually. (application form available from your instructor)
The grading fee that is payable on the day cost £12.00 (Adults £14.00). If the student passes belts are available that can be purchased after the grading for £4.00
